We need a chimney person

by Steve A » Sat Oct 09, 2010 3:26 am

I'd like to have the fireplace in our new old house looked at.

I don't suspect we'll be using it for real fires, since we have the television right next to it. What concerns me is the damper doesn't close all the way and I think there should be a cap on top to keep the critters out.

Can anybody here suggest a chim-chim-churree person they trust?

Steve,

We had a new top damper put on our fireplace this spring by Bone Dry Roofing (425-2928). It was in conjunction with having alot of masonry work done as the top of the chimney (fieldstone) became porous and started leaking. For just inspections and a top damper you could check with any of the chimney sweeps in the yellow pages. I do recommend Bone Dry, they did excellent work on time and on budget.
