DirecTV vs Insight, etc

by Steve P » Tue Sep 14, 2010 5:14 pm

A month or two ago we were doing the "compare and contrast" thing with television (etc) service and I thought I would post a recent experience I had with DirecTV.

I had a problem with my bill, so I called customer service. Because of the previous discussion, I had them "on the clock" and was pleased to be talking to an English speaking human being within 45 seconds. The problem with my bill was an auto-renewal on a portion of a sports package that I didn't want renewed...a $10 monthly charge for this service had been on my bill for 3 months and I had not noticed it. I was hoping to have the previous month credited. To my pleasant surprise, after a brief explanation I was credited the entire $30, even though it was more or less my own fault.

At the close of the conversation the agent asked me "is the anything else"...To which I replied "yes there is"..."I notice that DirecTV is giving new customers who subscribe to NFL Sunday Ticket 5 months of totally free programing"..."Well I have been a DirecTV subscriber for 10 years and a Sunday Ticket Subscriber for 8 of those and I'm feeling a little left out...is there any chance of a customer loyalty discount on my package"..."Stand by Mr. P and let me check". One minute later I hung up with a $150 dollar credit to my bill and 4 months of free premium movie channels.

Match THAT Insight.
