Where to catch the U of L game...in NJ?!??!

by Lori M » Fri Sep 03, 2010 5:29 pm

Long story short....we are here in the Garden State visiting relatives. AND....you know what happens on Saturday at 3:30. I asked my brother about where we could watch the game and he thought I was crazy. (Collegiate sports are not big here at all). I tried to google it....to figure out what station....and then I can call some sports bars...but not having much luck. Someone...help (anything short of flying home early).

If you can find a bar that carries the ESPN College "Game Plan" you should be in good shape. The game is being shown nationally on DirecTV channel 790...note this is ONLY for DirecTV customers who subscribe to "Game Plan". It is not available on regular satellite programing.

No Game Plan ?...Well your probably dicked because there are several "big games" that start a 3:30pm (e.g. The Church vs Purdue and Texas vs Rice) that will probably get the nod to be televised in that area.

Having organized gamewatches for hard-to-locate games before, Steve has sound advice.

It's great to know the exact channel you are looking for when you call. It's also great to ask for a manager or the bartender. Those seem to be the people in the know when it comes to channels as they also tend to have the key to the kingdom (i.e. the remotes).

Good luck. If hardpressed, I wonder if you could get a radio feed online?

OH WAIT...

I know it is being listed on ESPN3.com as "subject to blackout."

What does it take to watch ESPN3? The right internet provider (the provider pays for access and in turn raises your rate), a highspeed connection, and living in the right area (non-blackout).

Watching "TV" on the internet seems weird to people who don't do it regularly. Second nature to me. I might see if the feed works locally tomorrow, or I might just stick with the old radio.

http://espn.go.com/espn3/index (click on the upcoming tab and scroll down to 3:30)

EDIT: There's actually a blackout map linked. Looks like you are outside that area. That also means you will be getting one of the other games on ABC as Steve said.

EDIT2: worse comes to worse, I wonder if there is a radio feed online. WHAS perhaps? Radio beats TV for football anyway.

Most games, college, pro, whatever, can be watched pretty effortlessly on the internet. This link will bring you to a site that lists where different live streams are available.

Here's the page that includes the game you're looking for this weekend.
http://www.myp2pforum.eu/threads/44467- ... -Streaming

To play the game, your computer will have to have streamingtorrent software installed. It is a small program, and free. No spyware or anything. It just is a player. The link above includes all instructions, and if you click around a tiny bit, you can find other sports, etc.

Thanks all. Update.... even thought the outcome of the game is not what we wanted...

Earlier in the afternoon, we stopped by a huge sports bar....was told they could/would get the game. My husband arrived at 3:30 and for almost 45 minutes they tried to get the game...and were perplexed as to why they couldn't...

so he came back here....called another Sports Bar and they said no they couldn't get it either. (ABC here was showing the Michigan/CT game).

So after a lot of messing with my dad's computer (!) finally went to ESPN.com and found it. Cut in and out a bit, but overall it worked! My husband sat with his snacks and beer and said he felt like he was there (not!). But it was a good alternative.

Now next time, U of L needs to win! :D
