Wanted to recommend a book to you all...

Anderson, James C. and Donna M. Neary. Louisville. Charleston, SC: Arcadia Pub., 2001.

This book in the Images of America series includes over 300 late 18th and early 19th century photos of Louisville. From the 1937 flood to Fontaine Ferry to Louisville social life to S. S. Kresge's donuts for 24 cents a dozen, it is a fascinating look (I'd say read, but there's basically all pictures except for the captions) We have a copy here at the Southern Seminary library, as well as JCC, U of L, Jeffersonville and New Albany Libraries, and of course, copies at nearly all the LFPL branches.

I know what I am going to do over lunch :D

It's available online here: http://www.amazon.com/Louisville-Images ... 0738513946

I can vouch that this is a fantastic series with many interesting photos. They have several others from Louisville that are more specific, like Old Louisville, Louisville during WWII, and African Americans of Louisville. There are a few more, but I can't think of what they are off the top of my head. They're all great though!
