Electronic dog fences

by Alan H » Tue Jul 20, 2010 3:02 pm

Anybody have any reccomendations on a particular brand ? Pros or cons ?
Am thinking about getting one for my German Sheperd, he is 4 months old. I am on an acre and a half of property.
Thanks

Alan,
We absolutely love our dog fence company!!! It is locally owned and pretty much a one man show but the owner is readily available for any questions, etc. It is Derby's Pet Fence; 502-314-7398; www.derbysfence.com. The owner is Steve Baralt.

He is very reasonable, the batteries are rechargeable, and the training was excellent. Also, the system has a battery backup (if the electricity goes out) and it reminds you each month when it is time to recharge the battery. We have about 2 acres and Steve was very helpful about deciding the placement of the fence. We recommend this system VERY highly. Our dog respects the fence and doesn't cross but does not seem fearful of it.

We had the Invisible Fence system at our other house and there is absolutely no comparison. The batteries were expensive and a hassle and our dogs often escaped. I would never have them again.

Please feel free to PM us if you have any questions or want any more information.
