We had some old floors in this house redone about 10 years ago by a company named Allgeier. It was a very tough job - they're fine, narrow-board floors in a 100-year-old house, but after tornado damage the occupants at the time had simply painted the scarred floors olive drab.

A later resident put down bad beige carpeting. When we pulled out the nasty carpeting, we thought the floors couldn't be saved. Allgeier did an amazing job of making them look like new. or like restored old-house new, anyway.
Possible concerns: They were good, and you paid for it. And this was 10 years ago. But if they're still around and you're willing to pay for quality, it would be worth doing due diligence at least.
