The price for our bundled package hasn't gone up in 3+ years. As a matter of fact, last year it dropped by a few bucks. Our bundle is insight phone, insight broadband, and cable.

I'm with Justin on this. This conversation prompted me to look up our bill, and I find we're paying about $105 a month for digital cable ONLY. No broadband, no phone, and NO PREMIUM CHANNELS.

Does that sound right to everyone else? As much as I love Iglou, I get irritated at times with the creaky quality of the ATT ADSL that they resell, but when I think about switching to Insight broadband I look at this television bill and wonder what happens after the 12-month newbie deal evaporates.

Man, that is outrageous. Ours is $104 with the basic cable and internet.

OUCH!

We don't have digital cable - but for our cable package (It's just basic + classic I think) + our broadband internet + insight phone, our monthly price with all taxes and fees included is right around $113 per month. They tried to raise it after our first year, I called and protested - they lowered it.

Thanks, Justin and Heather. This is digital cable, and it seems like our rates went up when we got it for our HDTV a couple of years ago. But we don't have HBO, Showtime, Starz or any of the premium channels. I do recall that they made signing up for the program set kind of complicated and we had to go for a couple of optional packages to get regular channels that we wanted, but without any HBO-type channels, no Internet or phone, low three-figures does seem spendy.

I think I'll give them a call tomorrow. I'll put on my game face and come to play.

I'm not sure about all the different package/title definitions, but we have cable w/ 1 DVR and no movie channels and the middle internet speed.

First let me say I don't work for Insight...but...my son does. I have the service because after he got the job there he talked me into leaving my Directv service which I was very happy with and getting the bundled service with them. I don't get any discounts because he is married and has his own home and his own service but I think the rates are pretty fair, that being said I still call ever so often and I just check and ask if I am getting the best price available, sometimes it helps most times not.
Oh btw my son is a tech that you may talk to if you are having problems with your internet service, he works nights. Insight is a decent place to work...he has been there almost 2 years now...seems happy.

I had basic cable and the middle internet speed , no phone service and was paying something like $110 a month. The bill never seemed to be consistant which was frustrating to me. My service was fine. I wanted to drop my TV service since I was only using basic cable anyway and unless you're a reality TV fan (which I am not) there is NOTHING on the tube to watch. I wanted to keep my on line computer services but was told I HAD to purchase TV service in order to get my online services.
My solution -
Dropped Insight altogether. I currently have an air card with Verizon (very happy with it, just as fast if not faster than my previous service plus I can take my laptop anywhere for use). I get my news on line now instead of watching TV. I spend about $140 a month for my aircard AND my cell phone usage. Before I was spending $110 (cable and internet) + $80 (cell phone) = $190.
Now I have an aircard and phone service for a total of $140. Of that I spend $17 with NetFlix and have a new movie every night. And it's something I want to see. Note: Streaming movies with an aircard is very expensive so I can't do that but otherwise I am very happy.

Wow, that does sound like a lot. Our bill runs about $180 a month and we have the HDTV pacakge with HBO, The phone service and the Broadband 2.0 which is very fast. It's great because I download alot of music and watch streaming Netflix movies through the Wii.

Another tactic...Everytime they try to raise our rates, I tell them to cancel everything becuse we're switching everything over to another provider. That usually does the trick. That line works for satilitte radio service as well. 8)

Well, I checked the bill, and it's $95 rather than $105, but it still seems spendy without any premium channels. Reading the details, I see they get us there by breaking up HD service into packages and putting like a few channels we want into each of three different packages. I suppose I ought to revisit that in terms of what we actually watch, but it's irritating, because ultimately I can only save about $17 that way, even if I cut off all but the basic HD service. :P

Maybe calling them and telling them I've been talking to the folks from Dish and Direct might work ...

Our DirecTV runs about $93 a month...2 HD receievers, 1 HD DVR, This price includes HD "access" and the equipment "protection plan". I've had DirecTV for....hell I dunno...10 years or more and love it.

ATT/DSL...$37 a month and it works just fine.

ATT U-Verse is rolling out in the area...the rep was here this afternoon. The premium package was $131 for 450 channels w/ HD and movies channels, 12MB internet and phone. Plus an additional discount if you have cell service with them too. May be worth checking out or at least using to bargain for a better price with your current provider.
