Yew Dell Gardens

by Bill P » Fri Jun 04, 2010 5:06 pm

NJ and I spent a couple of hours meandering around Yew Dell Gardens this morning and it is a local treasure. In addition to the diverse and well tended gardens there is a sculpture exhibit currently underway throughout the grounds. If you enjoy the tranquility of gardens as we do, I'd suggest you arrive at the 10 AM opening to avoid the wandering bands of 60 year old women who seem incapable of enjoying anything tranquil. But really is just a minor quibble.

Does this place have facilities (restrooms, shelterhouses, ect.)?

Justin-
There are clean restrooms as well as some well placed picnic tables around the grounds. I did not see a "shelter", but there are ample shady places to get out of the sun.

Yew Dell is beautiful. Not enough area folks know about it as it has a seemingly low profile. Go see it, and take your camera - it's a great place to shoot pics.

Thanks for posting this in the first place. My brother and his wife came down for a short visit and we were having a heckuva time figuring out where to take them, and as newbies in town we haven't developed a list of places to visit. The gardens was one of our stops yesterday and it was a really peaceful place to walk around. Oh, and we didn't come across any of those 60 year old women you mentioned, unless you count my brother.

As a bonus we stopped by Texican's for lunch afterward.
