Ahhhhh!!! I missed that little nuance. I hope he has a 300-pound room mate named Bubba with love in his eyes. ;)

I am not against protecting one's home or family, I certainly will protect mine to the last tooth and nail and I expect others will do the same. What I am opposed to is the "shoot first, ask questions later" point of view.

As far as it being different because it was a homeless old man, my question is why? One might assume he was on some mind altering drugs or had reached the point of desperation where he held nothing in value except his own needs. This is my point, a gun has one final outcome in a situation such as this, someone is going to end up dead. What would I do? Most likely hit someone over the head with my Louisville Slugger. When they wake up they could explain their motives to the police. People have become too infatuated with their guns and what they can do with them.

No, while the building is still there and it still operates as a restaurant, there is no associations with the former owners. The guilty owner was convicted and is doing time.

There is a huge difference between shooting an UNARMED homeless man for stealing beer, and shooting an armed thug who breaks into my house in the middle of the night, but no, of course you didn't mean to offend. I notice that SOME of those against guns have no problems throwing insults, calling those of us who MAY choose to arm ourselves vigilantes, accusing us of bloodlust, etc., while us big, mean, violent gun-owners ( I have one gun in my house. It is a hunting rifle, given to my husband as a gift from his father) have resorted to no name-calling of any kind. Interesting.

Robin wouldn't be happy with my response to you, so I'm going to refrain from comment.

Can't replicate that ... those pop up randomly. Da Google is smart, though, maybe it noticed a certain key word popping up. :D

Seeing as you were just yelling - note the capital letters - at Carla, I'll stay out of your range. You get it? It's a verbal shooting joke....

Or just live with the 'fact' that a few message board posts have proven beyond any doubt that we gun owners are psychotic, blood-lusting redneck vigilantes who are just waiting for the chance to shoot someone, I'm cool with that - I have an ex who calls me worse things than that when she drunk dials me. Hell, I might just get me some neat little 'You Can Have My Guns When You Pry Them From My Cold Dead Fingers' stickers to slap on my Honda just so people know how terrible a person I truly am.

I'd go through and pull the representative quotations illustrating the reading I am getting of (some) gunowners participating in this discussion - I just did a quick skim and there are good ones - but then this discussion would further devolve into stupidity, and, having egged it on, I'd feel responsible to participate. Seeing as I have better things to do and have no interest in being a (further) party to keeping this conversation at the top of the forum...

Unless people are going back and deleting posts (which I doubt and am not accusing anyone of), they are all there for the reading.

Earlier on, I complimented everyone on all sides of the issue for carrying on a robust but civil debate, in the best traditions of this forum, without devolving into personal attacks or billingsgate. I hope we can continue that practice - on all sides of the issue. Just sayin' ...

Yeah - I apologize for that generalization. Judging by your forum sig, the 'must consume a minimum of 10 Keystone Lights or other similar canned beer (cause cans make fer better shootin later!) prior to any and all firearm-related activities' part of the Charter might cause you to get a little twitchy...

According to LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell, two adults and three children - ages 4, 8 and 16 - were in the home. According to Mitchell, the two adults immediately confronted the intruders, and at least one person was hit with a gun and received minor injuries.

According to Louisville Metro Police, one woman returning home after running some errands was forced at gunpoint into her apartment on by a man who then raped and robbed her.

http://www.fox41.com/Global/story.asp?S=13050006

According to a press release obtained by Fox 41 News, the alleged drive-by shooting took place Thursday morning at roughly 8:00 a.m. 48-year-old Arthur L. Wanty -- a Louisville resident -- was heading east in the fast lane of the KY 329 Bypass.

Wanty claims that a small, gray, foreign, two-door passenger car was traveling westbound at the same time. The vehicle drove into the center portion of the roadway, at which point a white male -- possibly in his late teens or early 20s -- pulled out a handgun and fired a shot at Wanty's vehicle.

It's not just Phoenix Hill and NULU that need to be on alert.
