STOP THE PRESSES!!...Target St. Matthews will have it's soft opening on Wednesday, October 7 at 8 a.m....The Grand Opening is scheduled for Sunday, October 11...This Target with enhanced food options will also be an extended hours Target...So it will close at 11 P.M. Mon - Sat...Sun closes at 10 P.M....as opposed to 10 P.M. and 9 P.M. at the old Target...Come Holiday shopping season I believe the store will stay open until Midnite...I managed to get a sneak preview of both inside and outside the store and the store is truly something to behold...Now if we can just finish off the Westport Road Interchange project!

Just read through the whole thread and it still isnt clear if this is an actual SUPER Target or just a regular one.....

can anyone clarify that?

I really love Target.... so much that i havent been to one in a couple of months. I always find good deals. Their clearance items are just unbelievable, and their other household items might be a bit more expensive than Wal-Mart, but i try to stay out of Wal-mart as much as possible. I put up with paying a few cents more to leave the hassle, yuckiness behind.

Becky,

I went to their website thinking that would be a good way to answer that question and the Middletown store wasn't even listed...and I couldn't find a link for future openings.

One would hope that it's a Super Target (or as my kids used to call it: Target' Boutique). In other markets, and maybe this one as well Target has done something that was kinda sorta somewhere between a regular Target and a Super Target...is that option convenient ? yes. Super ? no. Lets keep our collective fingers crossed.

This is regarding the one on Westport and Hubbards Lane - but if offering groceries indicates that it is a Super Target, then YES this particular location is a super target.

I got a grocery flyer in the mail from them yesterday.

Steve thanks for checking it out..... the Target here in Clarksville has some food items, and their store brand is ok. Which again, sometimes you can find them at really, really good prices.

All,

I called Target this afternoon and they confirmed the opening dates...They also confirmed that the newly remodled store is NOT-repeat NOT a "Super" Target. The new location is something they are marketing as a "P-fresh" store (no idea what that marketing term means)...The bottom line is that they will have some food items (milks bread, condiments, a few fresh items, etc) but that it will NOT have a full grocery. As I mentioned earlier, I've had experience with this type of store and yes they are conveienient in the "grab a gallon of mik and a loaf of bread" sense of the word but <sigh> alas nothing "Super"about them. <sniff>

Target St. Matthews may not be a Super Target but I will say that the Market area alone is at least four times the size of the previous Target...Plus the roof shouldn't leak during heavy downpours like the old Target...lol...From what I have been told the Target St. Matthews location is the only Louisville area Target with the "P-Fresh" or enhanced food options prototype...Here are some of the new items that I saw during my sneak peek:

Ground Beef
Ground Turkey
Angus Beef
T-Bone Steaks
Bone-less Chicken Breasts
Salmon Filets
Bagged Dole Bananas
Fresh Whole Pineapple / Iceberg Lettuce / Carrots
Bagged Spinach Leaves

Yes...Both the Middletown and St. Matthews Targets are scheduled to have their soft openings on Wednesday...Also during the Grand Openings on Sunday, October 11, a Target NASCAR is supposed to be at one Target and a Target Indy car will be at the other store...

Steve, I was told tonight that the Target NASCAR would be at the St. Matthews location on Sunday October 11, but I would suggest you call Target at 992-1039 for confirmation...

The word sure got out. I had occasion to be nearby there yesterday morning and again in the early evening, and the traffic was scary. (Apparently the state in its wisdom was also doing something with Westport Road construction just as the crowds came. I know for sure that traffic on southbound Hubbards Lane north of Westport was stacked up back past Massey all morning, and side streets in the area were also carrying lots of short-cutters.
