I just saw a sign in WandW's window that said (I think I've got the figures right) that you can rent entire TV show seasons for $4 for a week. That certainly beats Netflix when you've ended an episode with a cliffhanger and don't have to wait for the next disc to come in the mail.

I primarily use Netflix. I have the $8/month plan. That's about 2 movies in the mail per week & unlimited streaming online. The streaming feature is nice but not every movie is available with this method. For those movies that I can't stream via Netflix, I simply have them sent to me in the mail. I also use Clicker & Hulu to watch quite a few things. Even with paying $8/month I save a lot of money by not paying for cable television. If you're worried about local stations, simply get yourself an indoor/outdoor UHF/VHF antenna & get 30+ channels for free (many of which are in HD).

I never bothered with the whole Blockbuster thing because they have a reputation for shadiness, the service isn't nearly as good & the added "feature" of going to the store sort of defeats the entire purpose which I'm fairly certain is supposed to be convenience.

I just signed up for Gamefly for my teenage son (it was a game issue that I had with Blockbuster, see above), and so far, he likes it a lot. We haven't had it that long, but as I said, BB will not get any more of my $$. So, here's hoping that Netflix and Gamefly continue to work out well for us.

how does he like it? my thing with gamefly is this: you pay about 15 a month for it, well in two months you can just buy a game. But my husband's counter to that is that the games he likes are in the 50 to 60 dollar range. i dont know but for games i think it is a better deal to just buy them. You can find used ones as well at gamestop or CL.

We use Netfilx mail and online, plus watch things online like Bravo reality shows (Top Chef, Project Runway) - but we have a cable that connects our computer to our HD TV, so we don't have to sit at the desk to watch movies and shows we're streaming from online - we get to watch it on our big TV! The only drawback is that (so far) we still have to have the audio come from the computer surround sound speakers, which are great but do not point from the tv to the sofa; rather, the sound comes from one side while you're watching.

I'm sure there's a remedy for that, too - we just haven't run the wires yet.

Awesome, Nimbus, thanks for the tips. And Mike, I can attest to the Wild and Wooly's season box set for the price of a regular movie. It's a great deal. It's just sad that it's so easy for me to watch an entire season of something in a week.

Becky,
He likes to rent the games that he can play until he beats them - after he's done that, he doesn't want to play them anymore, so buying those is not worth it. He tries out others, and decides if he wants to buy them (the ones he can play online with other players). So far, it's been good.

If I lived near Wild and Wooly, I would certainly patronize them - but I don't, so Netflix it is for now - I just requested the disc to use with our PS3 to watch streaming movies. I hope that works out well, sure would be nice.

I am embarrassed to admit how much sleep I lost watching the sopranos on disc (hadn't seen the show). I'd get to the end of an episode and say to myself, "One more episode. It's only 50 minutes." and the next thing I know it'd be 4 in the morning.

a few years ago, my mother, my now husband and myself did the exact same thing. It was soooo awful. We would say the exact same thing, " oh man, just one more its only an hour or so."

We use blockbusteronline. We get movies in the mail then trade them in at the local store, and they send me more.
