I understand that one of the priorities for work on lines in such a situation is how many customers are affected. So they repaired lines first that would bring many customers power. That means that they were getting as many as 40,000 folks a day there for awhile, but now these small pockets remain. The power for our house on Texas near Shelby came on Friday. Our Dentist on Burnett only got power on Monday, and others are still without.

I haven't even seen a truck in my neighborhood. I'm hoping for the best, but trying to be realistic. I think there is a pocket of about 20 homes in my neighborhood left without power. I'd like to think I'll have power when I get home, but the odds are against me. Last night was rough. It was 50ish in my house when I got up this morning. I'm really hoping this ordeal is over soon so I can go to Jungle Jim's and stock up on goodies.

If you can find a kerosene heater, snatch it up! We actually got it up to 66 last night before we went to bed. Past nights, it has been as warm as 73, but last night was just too cold. We got our heater at Lowe's for around $100, and Kerosene can be found around town for about $3.29 a gal. Just make sure the area you have the heater in is somewhat ventilated, and if you can find one, get a battery operated carbon monoxide detector. I didn't think we'd ever use a kerosene heater, but it has been a Godsend.

Greg, be careful! Hypothermia starts to set in at about 40 degrees!

Looks like we may have just gotten power at my house. The answering machine picked up when I called.
