Yes, even the WHAS poll is couching the issue as a budget savings. That's an easy conclusion to draw, as almost no one understands how Urban Services District services are paid for. I swear to you, this firehouse service is FULLY FUNDED through the end of this fiscal year.

It maybe fully funded but everyone had to cut something? Funny thing is I don't think this is a budget forced move. LFD has been realigning its forces for some time to make this move work, correct? The timing just seems like budget related.

Realigning? Not really. LFD has built two new firehouse, one in Portland, and one in Crescent Hill. Both new houses will open BEFORE the old ones close.

Engine 7 is the only house slated for closure before a new house is built to serve the general area. A new house is scheduled to be built in the general vicinity of Broadway between 1st and 8th, and two more Old Louisville fire houses will close. The thing is, if we're following the TriData plan, Old Louisville will end up with a net loss of 36 firefighters. Engine 7 is only the first of three to close.

No lost services after merger, indeed.

Wow, that's quick! I would never have expected the wheels of justice to turn so fast. That's good news, I guess!
