I really felt the initial shock at 5:30 in Crestwood but was on Frankfort Ave when the aftershock hit and didn't notice a thing.

It woke us up, I thought hubby was joking around, but he did not have a clue. The wood head board was banging and as I fully woke up, I heard the glasses in the dining room rattling. After it stopped, we put on the radio and heard the first reports. Hubby got up and while I was deciding whether to get up or roll over for another 30 minutes, I felt a slight vibration and immediately got up and felt the floor vibrate, just a little, for a few more seconds. I missed the aftershock at 11:14, but the folks in my office felt it. I remember the one in 1980's that was centered in Maysville, it rocked the 2nd floor so bad, I thought the furnace had exploded.

Just remember, if the "big one" hits here, you will either be inside or outside the Watterson circle or maybe the Snyder circle. Ever notice how many overpasses you drive on or under daily? No too many here are earthquake proof.

Suzi, I posted this earlier about our bridges.

Pix of some damage in the Ville. Also included are some pix of the underside of part of the Kennedy bridge. Makes one think twice about crossing it.

From the courier story, it wasn't clear to me whether the bridge had sustained actual damage or the inspectors were merely scraping at some already existing decreptitude. But yes, crossing over bridges nearly always gives me a little pause anyway. One of the effects of being hyper-vigilant. I've never been able to decide whether that's a good or a bad thing. As I get older, the vigilance seems to come more in hindsight than anything, and I'm continually mortified by my ever-waning physical responses in that regard. I sort of relate to the bridge. :)
