Festivus Pole

by Bill P » Tue Dec 01, 2009 3:57 pm

I need help!!
The movers damaged our Festivus Pole during our relocation to So. Indiana earlier this year. I've shopped all the sales, but have not been able to find a replacement around here? Does anyone know where I can purchase one at a reasonable price?
TIA,
Bill P

Feats of Strength is my favorite part of Festivus. As a young lad, I can remember my dear Dad and Uncle...best not go there.

I do, however, find the modern practice of adding tinsel to the Festivus Pole to be....well, distracting as well as unhygienic, since Steve brought it up.

For the uninformed:

Festivus is a non-denominational annual holiday created by writer Dan O'Keefe and introduced into popular culture by his son Daniel, a scriptwriter for the TV show Seinfeld[1][2] as part of a comical storyline on the show. It has developed to include a festivus pole and traditional practices including feats of strength and the airing of grievances.

The rest of the story can be had at:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festivus

Personally, I like the non-denominational part.

I believe that is used during a different holiday with its own set of observances, Annemarie. :)

Funny you should mention Festivus(for the rest of us). A friend of mine threw his annual Festivus bash, complete with pole, last Saturday. He's been having it for at least 12 years. It's lways a great party between Thanksgiving and Christmas :D

A little late for 2009, but perhaps we should consider a 2010 Festivus Off-line. The airing of grievences and susequent feats of strength in the parking lot should be entertaining. :D
