Wind damage?

How's it at your place? We were chasing large clay pots (full of flowers/herbs) around the yard, along with a wrought iron chair that launched into the yard from the deck. Kept power (so far), which is good since I'm doing a seven pound boneless lamb roast for company tonight! Hope everyone else is OK.

Out here in the East End we have had quite a bit of damage from tree limbs, debris, etc. But still have power (as of right now). Our neighbors lost their "Grandma Willow" tree. So sad, it is the mainstay of our backyards; but no more.

I had to run to the grocery and it was nutty. Saw a stop sign that was flapping in the wind, then took off. That could have hurt! I was happy to get home unscathed.

Reporting by iPhone, much of Crescent Hill appears without power. Heine's and Caffe Classico closed. Many limbs down. We didn't see any major damage, though, and the Steve and Becky party is reportedly still ON!

My Bradford Pear is now firewood, I knew it would happen someday and today was the day, part of it is laying on the house and it looks like the gutter is somewhat worse for wear, otherwise the A/C was spared as was both of my kitchen and dining room windows. Southern Parkway is kind of trashed. I'll finish cutting it up tomorrow.

Checking in on my mobile, too. We're among the 170000 Duke customers without power in Indiana. Lost a fence and some branches, but others suffered a lot more damage. Time for some creative, no-power cooking!

No power at the apartment, the office, or the hospital over in the highlands where I am. The big old tree in the back of the apartment is no longer standing and is instead laid out across the backyard, the next door neighbor's backyard and the neighbor two doors downs backyard. I'm kind of glad I didn't decide to drive up to Friendship to see the muzzleloaders at their competition.

Had a DEVIL of a time getting home from church. Hit dead-ends twice with trees blocking Bethany Road and High Jackson Road. Ended up backtracking back to Highway 403, going up to Charlestown and then doubling back to Highway 62. Had to dodge a couple of downed trees on Highway 62, but made it back home to Jeffersonville. White-knuckled driving all the way. It took me an hour to make a 20-minute drive.

90% of Jeff is without power, according to the news reports. We bought a small generator a couple of years ago. Finally got to use it for the first time today. Fortunately, the gas station down the street still has power, so we were able to get gas for it.

I lost my deep freeze about 3 weeks ago and lost most of the food in it. We bought a new freezer then and most everything in it is less than a month ago. I sure didn't want to lose it again. We've got the refrigerator and freezer running, plus a fan, the wireless router (yeah!) and the TV's working (we still have cable service.)

Curious about whether my office has power, I had the presence of mind to CALL the office. Unfortunately, the Voice Mail answered, so we must have power at 7th & Market. Guess I'll be going to work tomorrow.

Our grill is going in the trash. It has now been blown over twice this year and has seen its last burger. Otherwise, we have power in Germantown and I have no school tomorrow!!!

I live way out in the East end and it is basically a disaster out here. Trees down over power lines, houses and vehicles. Where I Iive is a mess. Parts of buildings are all over the complex. The clubhouse is a shambles. Trees, gutters, roofs, siding, it's all chaos. I don't really know how to explain it all. I am just glad to be alive.

I am in New Albany. Lost some large limbs and neighbors on both sides had whole trees fall. Nothing hit the house, but lots of stuff flying around the yard like patio furniture and hot tub cover. Power is on so all is good. The chainsaws will be buzzing tomorrow.

Greetings from the Holiday Inn (La Grange). Sorry that you (and others) couldn't make it to the "Welcome" party but Becky and I are glad that everyone (seems) to have made it through the windstorm...albeit minus a few trees, etc. Things out here in Oldham Co. are probably par for the course (had to drop that one in there in recognition of the Ryder Cup). We lost power around 1pm...just as Becky was about to get in the shower and get ready for the party. About 3pm I drove into La Grange and booked a room at the Holiday Inn. As it turned out that was a good move as the place is booked solid tonight with storm refugees.

At this hour we're contemplating what happens next. Given the the Ryder Cup is in town we're speculating that Oldham co. may be one of the last places to receive the attention of LG&E...So we're thnking about a spur of the moment mini-vacation. Anyone have any ideas ?

I wanted SOOOOOO much to be at Gayle's party but where I live was so screwed. Dude and dudette, we'll hook up next time. I don't even have my own internet yet. I am stealing it from someone around here.

Power was out from 2:00 p.m. until around 4:00 a.m. this morning. I'm thankful it is back on. I, too, am sorry I missed the party but thought better about staying home with all the damage in J'Town. No house damage, just a mess to clean up in the yard. Could have been much worse and I am SO THANKFUL for the crews working through the night trying to get as much power back to our community as they can. YOU GUYS ROCK!!!

Some time between midnight and six they got power to our building back on. I know this because one of the nurses was calling me at a little after six to ask why the power was on but the computers weren't working.

Anyone catch the UofL soccer game early yesterday? They were showing it on one of the stations that wasn't doing NFL, and it was crazy how bad the wind was. Especially when they kept playing after part of the roof of the gas station down the block blew off and landed near the field.

Coming in to work this morning was odd. A few policemen out directing traffic at places like Highland & Baxter, but one just observing at Bardstown & Grinstead. For the most part people seem to be following the "No light, all stop" thing. Lots of trees down blocking off side roads back either side of Bardstown Rd.

Sorry to miss the party. Our neighborhood looks like a small thermonuclear device was detonated. Lost a very grand, old Ash tree which decided to send half into the power pole, which snapped off, and my house. Managed to get it moved off the house in time to be called in to work. As of 0500 hours this morning we had made 265 fire responses, 100 weather realted EMS runs, taken care of 1277 wires down and are looking at 285,000 out of power in the Metro. And the hits just keep on comin'! Please be careful, it will be a stressful week or so until we clean up.
