Sherlock Holmes

Was it just me or did the new Sherlock Holmes movie with Robert Downey Jr. drain all the fun, cerebral aspects out of watching a Sherlock Holmes movie?
And did you notice the body paint they used on Downey to make him look buff?!
I don't know about you but I like my Sherlock to be smart, brainy, and obsessive compulsive instead of drunk, sloppy and itchen for a fight.

Then you don't like the true Sherlock from the books. You like the one from the popular movies.

I enjoyed the movie.
I LIKE Robert Downey Jr, and consider him eye candy.

I read the books, all of them. Once when I was young and again with my daughter. I honestly don't remember Holmes being depicted that way at all.
Don't get me wrong... Downey is a cutie but for me, not a great Holmes.

I'm not sure that Hollywood has ever done a very good job of accurately depicting Holmes as Conan Doyle created him...I like Robert Downey, Jr., but hard to see him in that role....maybe Mickey Rourke - which would provide the qualities of drunk, sloppy and itchin' fer' a fight.
