And to their credit that is all the claim to be.
I will admit to still being mad at WFPK for the loss of jazz programming. They started cutting it with the death of my dear friend Phil Bailey and continued cutting until Sunday offers the only jazz on the station.
If you haven't heard it, though, be sure to check out my friend John La Barbera's big band/large ensemble jazz show on Sunday morning at 10AM. We're really fortunate to have a local (UofL prof) Grammy-nominated composer produce a local show of great big band music.

That's wild, I thought it was the best decision they've made. Not too cut it back as far as they have, but to not play it M-F after 12PM. I remember working at the Louisville Ballet scene shop eight years ago and literally falling asleep after lunch time listening to jazz. I think they have increased listenership significantly since that switch. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy jazz, just not enough to listen to it in four hour blocks everyday after lunch during the work day
