I have yet to see a positive review of this book. Excerpts I've read (admittedly limited) are self-serving and ramble. Love Bourdain - hate to see him implode by writing a book that seems almost like a characture of himself.

The time.com article link in my OP was pretty positive.

I hadn't read that one. Will do so. I'm sure I'll buy the book despite the bad reviews I've read, just because I think Bourdain is so entertaining.

Yeah, I getting it. The time.com article is very informative and sheds some light as to why some people might find him to be self-serving. He wrote this book as a rich and famous consumer, not a poor, up and coming cook.
