Closed Mondays

by Derrick Dones » Mon Apr 12, 2010 2:17 pm

Well, it is my turn for "family dinner." When it is your turn, you select the restaurant and you also treat. My intentions were to take the family to the Blind Pig, but they are closed on Mondays for dinner...I then thought, NABC Bank Street might be fairly similar food-wise. Unfortunately, they too are closed on Mondays.

So, I am asking the forum to send me some suggestions. My family is pretty open and we all enjoy trying new things. Some are more adventurous than others. Our dinner locations range from chains (Applebee's...not my pick) to locals (Cumberland Brews) and from very affordable (The Fishery) to moderately pricy...if the food is good, I am OK with a bit larger bill. In the recent past we have been to Boombaz taproom, Cafe Lou Lou Highlands, Coco Loco, Dundee Tavern, Palermo, Jason's Deli, Yan Kee Noodle etc. We are pretty spread out...downtown, east end, etc. so the location can be anywhere...just not too far out.

I'd appreciate some suggestions from the board...so post 'em. Thanks.

PS...I will eventually get to the Blind Pig, on a day other than Monday. I just wish that wasn't the standard "day off" for lots of places.

DD

Any suggestions

If there are no small children the new Equus/Jack's Lounge offers a variety of dining options (couch areas, tables, two bars) and a menu that spans everything from burgers and pizza to sweetbreads and filet. And it is now open 7 days a week.

Papalinos. Seriously, I'm craving their pizza on a regular basis.

A few more that come to mind (barring recent changes, so it's probably best to call and confirm): L&N Wine Bar, Captain's Quarters, Maido, Dragon King's Daughter, Uptown Cafe.

Thanks for the suggestions...keep them coming. I am narrowing down my choices as I type.

Leah, I definitely want to get to Papalino's very soon. However, I took the family to BoomBaz Taproom when it was my turn last. I'd like to avoid another pizza place, but with all the good things I've heard about Papalino's I will definitely get there soon.

Had Home Run for lunch recently...so you guys are obviously making bsuggestions that are up our alley.

Thanks again! DD

OK, thanks for all the wonderful suggestions from the forum. I think I have my next 5 family dinner vspots already selected.

I've decided to dine at 60 West tonight...wife was really wanting a martini and we have a Lou Originals cert! However, really do appreciate the suggestions.

I will be venturing to Papalino's, Jack's / Equus, uptown, etc. very soon.

I really want to get the family to Will's place (Westport Gen. Store), but will have to do so on a non-Monday.

Thanks again to this wonderful forum! DD

One of my favorites that I was just getting ready to suggest! If she's on the floor, as for Jennifer as your server. She's incredable. Tell her I recommended her!
If life's a Banquet, what's with all the Tofu?

Cheers!
