Omar's on Preston and Ormsby

Hey - just wanted to remind everyone about this place. There was a big buzz about them last fall I think, and there has been so little mention of them since that I couldn't even remember the name of the place when I ventured out today looking for a meal. I was able to locate them, though, and all the memories came back to me.

The last time I was there I had a mutton dish that was awesome, but today I went vegetarian with the vegetable briyani and samosa. Owner took the order and chatted with me while his wife/chef prepared the food. Tasty tasty tasty. I don't have a lot of experience with briyani so I can't say how it stands up to others, but it was delicious - I love sauteed slices of lemon in just about anything. And the samosa was something to cherish, thick crunchy crust stuffed with about a half cup of flavor balanced veg and thin creamy herb sauce. They're in such an off the path location, but I hope they make it. There were buffet indications but the owner said they were just thinking about it, not yet decided. Great food and service.
