Suggestions for places for lunch/dinner in Cincinnati

by Linda B » Fri Apr 09, 2010 12:19 pm

My daughter and I are making frequent trips to Cincinnati these days. We need suggestions for good places to eat lunch or an early dinner. We would rather stay away from anything we have available in Louisville.

Any help is really appreciated! It looks like the Cincinnati HotBytes forum is closed!

The wife and I really enjoyed Nada a few months ago.
We sat at the bar and ate our way through their happy hour menu. It serves modern, slightly upscale, mexican food and is right downtown. It is across the street from a art museum.

As Lexingtonians, we used to divide our "trips to the big city" between Louisville and Cincinnatti, but we don't go to Cincinnatti very much any more. Compared to L'ville, Cincy seems to have a paucity of good restaurants. We used to like Jeanro Bistro, but it was horrible the last time we went. Teak (http://www.teakthaicuisine.com/contact/), a Thai/Sushi place in Mt. Adams, has some good stuff, and its a good excuse to visit Mt. Adams, but we haven't been in a while. Boca (http://www.boca-restaurant.com/), Italian, was pretty good, but nothing unusual. I think we were there in early 2009.

Boca and Nada are owned/ran by the same people.

HOFBRAHAUS. It's kind of a chain I think, but they have great German beer and food. It's also a very exciting place to go with Oktoberfest style seating at HUGE table with benches and live music everyday. I go every time I'm in Cincy for a Reds game.

If you are like us and down with the "breakfast for lunch" mantra, you must go to First Watch. It is part of a chain, but their pancakes are SO good!
