pick your own blueberries

by Kelly Herre » Thu Jun 28, 2007 9:43 am

Anyone have any ideas of places to go this Monday afternoon (7/2) to pick your own blueberries? Bryant's is not an option as they are having a lighter than normal crop. I think my friends and I waited too long last summer too

Tough year for berries ...

by RebeccaWebb » Thu Jun 28, 2007 9:49 am

I think you will be hard pressed to find many blueberries this summer. Between the freeze in April and the current drought conditions, the yields are way down. :(

We sell blueberries for a farmer in Greenup Co, KY (Ashland) and last year, we sold 900 pints as compared to only 120 this year. He was expecting to more than double his production from last year to this since his bushes were finally mature and ready to produce.
