Sorry your question came up without any replies, Sally. Can you tell us more about Paul's? Where exactly in New Albany is it?

HI, Robin. Paul's is located where Market Street Fish House (?) used to be, I think. It is on the block with Toast. It might even be next door, I can't recall exactly.

A friend of mine had a hand in helping the owner get the restaurant open. So, I was soliciting foodie feedback thinking I'd pass it along to these folks and, perhaps, help them out. Seems the owner, Paul, used to have Chiquito's, which was also in New Albany, over near Scribner school if I'm recalling correctly.

I'm a little surprised that this place, Paul's One World, isn't on the radar of any of the forumites, if just out of curiosity. Makes me wonder if such a restaurant can survive, if even foodies aren't curious.

Or, perhaps Roger B. has heard some buzz, whether good or bad, since he's over in that vicinity also.

By the way, second time I was there, the service wasn't stellar, and the food was good, but not off the chart or anything. I'd go back, but there ARE a lot of good mexican choices around.

Sally, I don't know if it's lack of interest or simply lack of knowledge. I'm afraid a lot of Kentuckians have to hear a loud buzz before we cross the bridges (I do my best to fight this, but sometimes I'm an offender, myself). I don't think any word-of-mouth about Paul's had gotten to the forum yet, so thanks for telling us about it. Maybe now we'll get a few folks from both sides of the bridge to give it a try!

Paul was at the ATC (Alcohol and Tobacco Commission) hearing yesterday, and that means he's pursuing a license -- my guess, a special Riverfront Development 3-way.

I've yet to dine there, and the reports I've heard parallel the above, but it's still early. Someone told me that it's the only place in town where you can get a taco, a plate of spaghetti and a meatloaf sandwich, but I can't attest to that.

I can also report that La Rosita's recently secured a piece of the revolving loan program of Horseshoe Foundation and One Southern Indiana, which should help Chef Israel complete the move to Pearl Street. At that point, whenever it is, Rosita's will be just around the corner from One World.

Paul might consider notching up the Italian aspect in this instance ... just in case ... :D

Wow, that IS interesting news about La Rosita. I consider them a competitor anyway, but being at least a little distance from Market Street being in Paul's favor.

If La Rosita moves around the corner, that will surely change the picture for Paul's.

Also - the pricing at Paul's seems pretty good for those looking for an inexpensive selection.
