French Wine Tasting for Clarksville Sister Cities

by Todd Antz » Wed Jun 27, 2007 9:03 pm

Sorry for the short notice on this, but we (Keg Liquors) will be helping out the Clarksville Sister Cities Association with a French Wine Tasting on Thursday, June 28th. Clarksville Sister Cities officially signed an agreement with La Garenne-Colombes, and in honor of this signing we will be hosting a French Wine Tasting. Here is what we will be sampling:

Charles de Fere Brut Blanc de Blanc - A blend of Chardonnay, Uni Blanc and Chenin Blanc, this sparkling wine has generous, rich flavors of ripe apple, spice and butter, with an attractive doughy aroma. With a lingering finish, It’s deep and complex with a smooth texture. Received an 86 from Wine Enthusiast.

Fat Bastard Chardonnay- Pale golden color with green tints. Elegant and powerful on the nose with hints of vanilla, hazelnut and toast. Round and full on the palate with aromas of white flowers and vanilla.

Chapoutier Belleruche – A blend of White Grenache, Clairette and Bourboulenc. Flavors of Sour apple, hawthorn and white flowers. A nice clean finish.

Ménage a’ Trois White -It’s undeniably fruity and unabashedly easy. It’s meant to be quaffed, not analyzed. Citrus and tropical fruit flavors with crisp acidity. Dare we say it’s refreshing? OK, we cheated on this one, its actually from California, but what a great French name!

Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau- Nice, light red. Fruity, but not overwhelmingly so, and has a gentle acidity. Very easy to drink. This wine is released on the 3rd Thursday of each November to huge fanfare.

Louis Jadot Beaujolais Villages- Juicy strawberries and clean, "dusty" earthy notes, crisp and mouth-watering, refreshing and balanced.

Pinot Evil Pinot Noir – A very light style of Pinot Noir, it nonetheless has a full mouth feel and was silky smooth with a surprisingly long finish. The simple cherry flavor is quite pleasant.

Lulu B Pinot Noir -Lulu B. Pinot Noirs are issued from select vineyards near Limoux, an appellation on the western edge of the Languedoc region. Elegant and charming, silky tannins lead to cherry pit and brandied fruit with a long finish.

Everyone is welcome to the event.
The meeting will be held at the Endris Lodge at Laping Park in Clarksville, IN at 7:00 PM For more information on the meeting or the Clarksville Sister Cities Association, please contact Trish White at 812-283-1504 or you can contact us at the store (812) 283-3988 for more information on the wine tasting.
