Benefit for Jennifer Vaughn

by Beth K. » Wed Mar 24, 2010 4:55 pm

Robin, I hope this is ok to post here. If not, please feel free to move it.

As some of you may already know, Jennifer Vaughn has recently been diagnosed with glioblastoma, a very aggressive form of brain cancer. You may know Jennifer as one of the original founders of Luna Mercato, alongside her husband Ed, or from her many, many years at Allo Spiedo.

A benefit to raise assistance for Jennifer's medical bills is being held on Friday, June 25, 5:30-11pm, at the 610 Magnolia Wine Studio. We are currently accepting donations for the silent auction. If you have anything that you would like to donate, you may PM me. Donations of items and certificates for services are both greatly appreciated. No item is too small.

Thank you all so much.

Hi all,

We had our first meeting last night and I just wanted to updaye everyone. The original date of the benefit - May 7th - will possibly be changed to another day in May. It will still be held in the 610 Magnolia WIne Room. We are waiting to hear back about entertainment and will hopefully have a date set this week.

We have already received several very exciting items for the silent auction and are continuing to accept donations. If you have anything at all that you can donate, we would greatly appreciate it. And I do mean anything - a service, a product, a gift card, a week at your timeshare, etc. Every single penny that we can raise will make a difference.

We have also decided to hold a live auction of local chefs! Each Chef is asked to donate a complete Dinner for Four, to be cooked and served in the home of the winning bidder. After enjoying dinner and drinks at the 610 Magnolia Wine Studio, our guests will be able to bid on their favorite local Chef, while listening to live music by our surprise guest.

If any of the chefs on this forum would like to participate, we would LOVE to have you. It would be great exposure for your restaurant, and you would be helping an excellent cause.

Please feel free to contact me or Ashley if you have any questions.
Thanks to everyone!

Hi Brad, it is not too late - the benefit date has been changed to June 25th and we are still accepting donations. I edited the original post to refelct the new date and have also updated the list of chefs participating in the chef auction. This gives me a chance to tell everyone about some of the event updates.

THIS IS GOING TO BE A GREAT EVENT FOR FOODIES!!

A local chef auction will provide winning bidders with a chef for a night. The chef will come to the winning bidders home and cook a dinner for four. The dinner will also include wine pairings for each course, provided courtesy of Republic Wine and Spirits.

There will be food to sample from multiple local restaurants, including: 610 Magnolia; Bourbon's Bistro; Z's Fushion; Irish Rover; Varanese; Lotsa Pasta; Nancy's Bagel Grounds; Blue Dog Bakery & Cafe; Luna Mercato; Creation Gardens; and The Blind Pig.

There are also many silent auction items from local restaurants and specialty food stores, such as gift certificates; wine baskets; and gourmet food baskets. The silent auction will also feature an original piece by world renowned sculptor and Louisville native Barney Bright and an authentic Amish quilt, “Sunshine and Shadow” from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

The event will also feature live entertainment by Jazz Vocalist, and Louisville Native, Carly Johnson.
Tickets are $25. For more info: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=102121419827959

Hi forumites!

I'm shamelessly bumping this to the top of the heap. The event is in just 4 days and is going to be a fantastic evening. If you're looking for something fun to do on Friday night, you should come on down - it really is a great cause.

Just let me know if you have any questions.

I hope to see everyone there!

Thanks Carla!

We are getting so excited for the benefit; we now have almost 80 silent auction items!

Some of the 'foodie' relevant items are from: Dumante; Bourbon's Bistro; Lotsa Pasta; Maker's Mark; Le Relais; Jack Fry's; Maido; Asiatique; Taste of Frankfort Ave.; The Bristol; Tumbleweed; North End Cafe; Joe Davola's; Irish Rover; Foodboyz.com; Brown Forman; Republic Wine and Spirits. . .Just too many to list! (And don't forget about the chef auction!)

There are many other non-foodie items too, including original art pieces from local artists; interior design consult; unlimited yoga gift certificates; Salon & Spa services and packages; professional photo shoots; jewelry; golf gear; and antiques!

Come on out, relax, enjoy some wonderful music, sample tasty foods (hors d'oeuvres from over a dozen local establishments), and support a good cause!!!

I was just bumping to see how everything went?

Once again I am sorry I wasn't able to be there in person but glad I was able to help in the cause with some donations.
