Desperately Seeking Farmer's Markets

by Deb Hall » Tue Mar 23, 2010 11:39 pm

Help! Anyone know when the Farmer's Markets are starting back up? I'm seriously jones-ing for a Farmer's Market visit this weekend.

I know Bardstown Road is open, but don't know what they have right now. Normally I'd just drive to find out, but I'm recovering from surgery ( very well, thanks!) and I'm not supposed to be out and about much. Was anyone there last week to advise on what's in?

Thanks,
Deb

Cesar,

Thanks for the link! Unfortunately it looks like I'll have to wait a week and 1/2 for Bardstown to open. :( :(

Thank link has incorrect info for Bardstown Rd. They're open 10-12 through March 27, and beginning April 3, resume normal 8-12 hours.

Hi Deb, glad to hear you are on the mend and doing well. We were at Bardstown last week selling plants. I have my Mom work that market for us, so this info comes second hand, but last week the vendors included...The Jacksons with potatoes and early vegetables, Duncan with rabbit meat, Stan with local beef and pork,Capriole with goat cheeses,Ivor had early greens/veggies,Fiedler family farms with beef/pork/lamb,Tom with honey,Nick of finger pickin farms with early greens,Mt Eden greenhouse(us) pansies, veggie starts, petunias, stocks, violas, etc. I think that there might of been a couple of others as well. The weather looks good for this Saturday so I would expect to see a few more vendors out this weekend.Hours are 10 to 12. Everybody will be there by April 3rd when the regular market hours begin, 8 to noon.. I will also be selling a few plants this Saturday morning before noon with Ralph and Kathy of Misty Meadows farm over at the Felice complex that houses the Bodega(former Mellios building). They will have fresh eggs, beef, pork, chicken. I know a granola vendor will be there also. Probably will just be the three of us,but we will see if can get another couple of producers to show up also. It wont be long till the other markets get going though. Phoenix hill market on Tuesdays 3-6:30 gets going in the beginning of May, St Matts not long after that.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Hey, John! (I was going to PM you if you didn't chime in - I knew you'd come thru with the details.)
Perfect! I will definitely be heading out for some greens and potatoes, along with some lamb from Dreamcatchers. Do you have single colors of stock?- I can really use some..

Thanks again,
Deb

These articles just bug me, because Bardstown Road, at least, has never closed. To my knowledge, it was open EVERY Saturday in the winter, no matter how cold or snowy. The hours are shortened, and of course the selection is less, but there are vendors there every Saturday.

That's not news on this forum, where various people have posted about BRFM throughout the winter.
