Jack's / Equus

by Kaitlin M » Sat Mar 20, 2010 10:09 pm

Me, my husband, and father-in-law had dinner at Equus tonight. We had heard that it was converting to an entire building that consisted of only Jack's. As long time Equus diners we decided to dine at Equus one last time. Well, we had a fantastic dinner, as always, at Equus. The doors in the middle of the restaurant were open to Jack's. I'd never been to Jack's but the service and atmosphere were wonderful. We went for an early dinner and were planning on going to one of the bars in St. Matthew's to watch the UK game, but it turned out there was an open table in Jack's after our dinner. While I will miss the Equus atmosphere, the new expanded Jack's will be a new hot spot for us. We aren't much for going out to the packed bar atmosphere such as Molly's or BBC. So the new expanded Jack's seems like a new wonderful alternative to the bar scene in St. Matthews.

It was my understanding that it was going to be called Equus and Jack's Lounge and wouldn't be exactly the closing of Equus.

Not really sure...all I know is that I saw a brand new bar in the Equus area along with a couch seating area and some regular tables. The middle area & regular Jack's area was open & connected to the old Equus area. One of the servers stated that the future menu would consist of Jack's & Equus favorites as well as new food items. Anyhow...its hard to go wrong w/ the Equus or Jack's atmoshphere. One of my favorite spots in the city! :D

Just to clarify we are combining both operations under the name of Equus and Jack's lounge, the menu is a reflection of both plus some new standouts.
It was painfully evident after 2008-2009 that the dining habits of many of our clientele had fundamentally changed. It was evident that the relaxing more casual atmosphere of Jack's was preferable to most, we are adding new comfortable spaces as well as a better draft beer selection (attn. Roger).
I think it is imperative to occasionally make these physical interior changes in order to remain as fresh as the menu changes within.
I hope everyone enjoys the new Equus and Jack's lounge, completion and ready for action this weekend!

Those crabcakes are the best I've ever had...
