With the beer geeks here, it'd better be good....and hopefully some local in the mix.

I don't know your clientele at all, and it really depends on how far you're willing to go away from mass produced swill. But here are a couple ideas: BBC Dark Star Porter, maybe Pyramid Apricot Ale (wheat beer). Bell's Two Hearted Ale is very popular (it is a hoppy northwest style IPA out of Kalamazoo, MI). For a stout, Guinness is probably good for starters. And Sierra Nevada for Pale Ale is a solid non-controversial choice. That'd leave you with three.

I can't recommend the AB products. PBR is very popular, and pretty cheap, so that'd be a wise choice.

If you had the above selection, plus a couple mega-swills, it'd please the beer geeks (somewhat, really five good beers isn't enough), while at the same time pleasing the people who just can't live without their swill, and at the same time has a couple well known names of decent beers(guinness and Sierra Nevada). Definitely some holes in the lineup. No belgians, no german wheat beers (a wheat beer for the summer would be a good idea). I also had Great Lakes (cleveland) on the list but it got bumped for the pyramid apricot ale, which is a great summer beer.

Tweak away...There are millions of combinations possible....Are any other louisville breweries besides BBC bottling yet?? Upland brewing out of Bloomington is another semi local beer too...

Cheers

Without question, something from BBC, and as others come online, other local micros producing bottled beer. The reasons should be obvious: You're a local independent competing against chains. You really ought to support your beer-making neighbors in a similar place. Plus, the beers are good.

As others have said, even if you've just got to put on the industrial stuff to satisfy part of your clientele, at least go with a local or two for the gesture - and for the pleasure of those customers who really don't want to drink the mass-market stuff.

BBC Amber
BBC American Pale Ale
Upland Wheat
Kentucky Ale
Spaten Lager
Bud Light
Coors Light
Miller Lite

The last three will keep your regular swill drinkers happy, plus 1 classic German lager and 4 local brews should keep the rest of us reasonably satisfied.

Shawn, my only change your suggestions would be to make one or two of the mass produced beers not a lite. Maybe include something like MGD or Michelob (amber?).

Home Run Burgers is now supporting other local companies by offering BBC American Pale Ale, BBC Nut Brown Ale and Upland Wheat. It's a no-brainer that we thank you guys for bringing to our attention! - $3 a bottle.

We have beer at the Hurstbourne and Middletown stores only. Unfortunately, our neighbor at the St. Matthews location - Buffalo Wild WIngs - prohibits us from being able to sell beer. (Their lease agreement includes provisions about other sports-related restaurants in the shopping center. :x )

Just looked at the menu - I also appreciate how you designate beer as "Domestic" and "Premium," vs. the usual "Domestic" vs. "Import," with "Import" including beers brewed right here in town.

It's also nice recognition that the usual "Domestics" are not in fact premium beers. Well done.
