Jockamo's RIP?

by Bryan Shepherd » Wed Mar 17, 2010 12:28 am

It looks as if Jockamo's is gone again. I tried to get over there more often to eat their pie and pizza sticks, but with all of the local pizza competition, I guess it wasn't enough :( :(

I don't know anyone at Jockamo's, but I live nearby, and word on the street is that the restaurant will be sold, building and all. It's definitely been closed for a while. On the up side, Germantown Cafe just reopened a block down, so the 'hood gained one when we lost one!

Back in the day ( late Eighties early Nineties ) Jockamo's where Za's Pizza is now on Bardstown Rd. was the place to be for music with The Merry Pranksters playing every Sunday night.
Used to be a line to get in there.

Now you go to LongShot's on Frankfort Ave on Sunday nights to get your fix...

I worked there when the Merry Pranksters played - 1987 or so. Great folks to work for!

Mark & I were Sunday night regulars at Jockamos! The pizza was great and the Merry Pranksters were so much fun! I think Mark even took guitar lessons from Tom Browning for a while. Looks like we need to go and check them out...it's been several years since we have heard them play!

my aunt francie was one of the owners and the driving force behind their kitchen. she has gone into business with someone and opened a UK themed sports bar at baxter and lexington. my dad is working for her in the kitchen and says that she may be putting the pizza sticks/bread sticks from jockamo's onto their menu. francie's soups are always the bomb and i believe they are serving her soups at the new place as well. jockamo's is gone but you can still have francie's delicious food. go try out the sports bar!

Nice to hear of who is behind this, and as a UK fan, I say bless her and her business partner. I have heard the food is pretty good. With the tournament underway, I prefer watching the big games in the comfort of my home, but I'll have to give it a try regardless.
