Brown-bagging tonight ... what shall I get?

by Robin Garr » Mon Mar 15, 2010 4:29 pm

Okay, meeting at 6 on Hubbards Lane. Wanna brown-bag. Gotta get something that won't take much waiting and isn't too far out of my way from Crescent Hill. Lotsa Pasta muffuletta meets all these requirements, and I love 'em, but sometimes one wants a change of pace. Ideas, anyone?

How about a Clark St. dog and fries from Lonnie's? Or a Polish, Italian Beef, etc. you can't go wrong.

Mmmm! Those almost beg to be eaten on the spot, though. I'm not sure how the bun would hold up in a brown bag. Great idea, though, I'll throw it in the mix.

What part of downtown< Kris? Safier if close to Broadway. Los Aztecas or Luigi's if near Main?

I'm at 3rd and St. Catherine. More Old Louisville. Luigi's might work. i didn't know they were open this late. THanks. As for you Robin, I would stick with Lotsa Pasta but go for the Italian. My favorite sandwich in the city!!!

I would pick up carry-out from Simply Thai.

Robin,

Takeout from Lou Lou in St. Matthews.

Kris,

That's a tough spot, having previously lived at 1st and Oak. Not that much around that way these days. I'll re-post if something pops into my head.

Ollie w/cheese, extra sauce and a fry.

The bag starts out brown at least, until the grease turns it translucent.

Of course if you're not going to be eating it reasonably quickly the grease will solidify in the bag.

Robin and Kris,

How about Bazo's? We have one location in St Matthews and one by U of L on 4th and Cardinal!

We are open until 9.00 pm in St Matthews and 10.00 pm at the U of L store

You can also call in ahead and place an order , so it's ready when you get there.

Hope this helps
Thanks

Considering your meeting was last night, inquiring minds want to know where you ended up getting your brown bag suppah, Robin.

I did the muffuletta, Steve. All the suggestions were good, although some (Simply Thai) fall into the category of food I'd rather sit down and eat in than take out in a bag. But I've loved Lotsa Pasta since they opened in their original location on Bardstown Road more than 25 years ago, and they still do it right.
