Forumites going to Sushi In The City?

by Melissa Richards-Person » Sun Mar 14, 2010 7:17 pm

Curious who might be going to Sushi in the City this Tuesday night? I'm taking a friend from out of town, and hoping to run into a few forumites!

I didn't know anything about this event; so I looked it up. Perhaps it was mentioned on LHB earlier and I failed to spot the information. Sounds like an interesting time.

I am one of the Chairs for the event... this is our 3rd Sushi in the City. Every year has sold out, and this year we are getting close. As of last Wednesday, we've sold +300 tickets and sell out around 400. Please join us again this year and check out the changes made to reflect the feedback we've received.

Robin will be one of the judges again this year. We'll be giving four awards this time - Judge's Choice, People's Choice, Most Original, & Best Presentation.

While subject to change, participants so far include...

Bendoya/Oasis
Hiko a Mon
Jarfi's Bistro
Mikato
Sake Blue
Z's Fusion
Sapporo

In addition, there are several "non Sushi" / dessert vendors.

Sushi in the City will take place on March 16 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $60 or online prior to the event for $50 by going to the Family Scholar House website and making a monetary donation equivalent to the cost of the number of tickets you want to purchase. Then, make a note on the Paypal donation screen that states that the donation is for tickets to Sushi in the City, stating the names of the individuals you're buying tickets for so that they can be added to the list.

For more information, contact Rachel Foster at Family Scholar House (502) 584-8090.

Mary and I will be there! (As noted, I'm one of the judges. It's also been promoted for several months with a banner ad on the forum and the LHB page. I hope you folks are turning off your ad-blockers when you visit here. :)

Dan, the other entrants were Jarfi's, Bendoya/Oasis and Hiko-A-Mon. They were all good, and Hiko-A-Mon came very, very close to a prize. It was really tough to pick out the winners in close competition.

Hiko-A-Mon was my vote for People's Choice, I loved their Bluegrass Roll! Jarfi's had sashimi and tuna tartare, which made me very happy and was a nice "clean" break from the multiple flavors in the rolls.
