Caviar

Well, this morning was one of those "Bill, you need to get this stuff done" morning, which I did without hesitation. Hence, I treated myself to someplace close that I've not been to before....Caviar Japanese on MHB by 4th Street Live.

It one of those places that I have passed on my jonts down that way, and have been meaning to try. So today, I did. And was very pleasently suprised.

Tucked in an unobtrusive spot between the Seelbach and the Kentucky Towers Apt. Building, it has a very unique feel when you walk in. Atmosphere is very relaxed, unhurried, and incredabally friendly.

Now, as my fashion when I go to a new Japanese place, I make a beeline for the Bento Box. I figure, and usually rightfully so, that it will give me a good selection of what the power's that be have to offer. Today was no exception.

Sitting at the Sushi bar, I very much enjoyed the lunch rush show behind the counter. The skill, and obvious love of the art shown in everything thing I saw go out to the floor.

My Bento Box was basic fair....2 lovely tempora fried shrimp, a small slab of grilled salmon with a fab glaze that I couldn't quiet put my tongue on the flavors, fried zuchinni, yam slice, two fried stickers, a huge helping of some of the most delecious fried rice that I've had in ages and a nice fresh salad as a starter .... all and all, a delightful lunch.

Now, I must say, it's not in the under $10 range, but I don't know of a Sushi place in town that is. The Bento Box was $12.95, and with drink and tip, lunch was $15.

I'm looking forward to going back and trying some of the other things I spied on the menu.

As I said, it was a treat.....

On the Garr Scale, I'd give it a good, solid 3.
If life's a Banquet, what's with all the Tofu?

How was the service there? (just figuring that with a $13 box & a drink (usually $1.50) that only leaves about a fifty cent tip? with tax, really doesn't work?) am I missing something?

I was thinking the same thing. Actually even if he drank water the tip would have only been $1.83 which is very marginal for that meal. Maybe he meant the $15.00 covered the food and drink and the tip was additional?
