Anyone hit the Beargrass Christian Church Farmers Market?

by Mary Anne » Mon Jun 25, 2007 7:53 am

I got there very early on Saturday, I think once it gets settled and established this is going to be a very nice market. The egg vendor said they came from 180 miles away to sell here! One small beef, there was no central place to sit as there is at the Bardstown Rd farmers market. I was tempted by the omelets, but with no place to sit and eat them I passed. I am going to call the contact number today and suggest a table would be a good thing...The Fiedler Family Farms had a booth with grassfed beef and pork. Couldn't resist going over to the Bardstown Rd market afterwards and they were guest vending there too!

Farmers market

Meridian cafe was kind of taken aback when we saw the omlette lady there!

We came into the members list at the 11th hour (waiting for a baby to come!)
and when we arrived this Saturday we saw the omelet lady there! aagghh. She applied after us! I was a bit bummed.
Anyway, my rant for the day. We had successfully served our breakfast wraps and fruit salad, and banana walnut bread, and realized there is (for now) enough room for everyone.

I also thought about tables and chairs.... however, I think if people sat and got too comfortable they would not be inclined to shop the vendors, and these folks are there to make a living!

There are a set of stairs at the venue... granted the band was there, but that was only because the weather was questionable! I think that they will be on the ground this week! I do not know their name, but they were pretty good!

Stop by and say hi next time you are there. I will be there along with Chef Mike!

I must have gotten there before everyone was set up, as I didn't see your booth, just the omelet lady, and the band wasn't up when I was there either!

About the chair issue, I brought my elderly mom along and she really really needed a place to sit about half way through the market...the tables and chairs seem to work at the Bardstown Rd farmers market, and I know I personally won't eat on the move, but I will if I can sit down for a bit...JMO...I think you'd sell more, not less.

Point taken I will pass the message on to the powers that be!

We arrived at exactly eight! (late for the first time). At least the omlette lady was on time! Band showed up around 10.
