Another one bites the dust.....

by Michael Hargrove » Mon Mar 01, 2010 5:10 pm

Just thought i would inform everyone here that the Jefferson club has closed as of today. I was called and informed not to report work and that the club is filing bankruptcy

Wow. Really? The Jefferson Club? That's nuts. I thought that was where all the upper crust did business lunch?

I think the Pendennis is upper crust. The Jefferson Club was more medium crust. I'm surprised, too, although when you think about it, a pricey club might be one of the first business expenses to be cut during a recession.

I was a member for years, and thought it was always on its last leg. Empty at night, usually only busy during the day if it was a group meeting. Nice folks, good service, mediocre food.

The four or five times I had eaten there the food was very pedestrian. You were paying for the view, which was magnificent.

Exactly right. Great view (and the UPS planes landing just over the top of the building are pretty cool).

By the way, Michael - I'm sorry about your job loss. My comments were not meant to be cavalier about that ...

Nor were mine, Mr. Hargrove. It's been at least 20 years since I had a meal there. Hope you land on your feet very soon.

No offence taken guys..... To be honest the food was very pedestrian, sadly the club had been set in its culinary ways long before I arrived. I am sad to see the club go it provided me an income and benefits in lean times, and a new perspective on FOH service.

I know of some very good mangers and servers who are out of work right now, please send a message if any one out there is looking for good FOH staff……

Ok, back from dinner at Bucks. Nasty rumor, they are NOT closing! Food was good, a lot of it was served not hot enough, but it was all very very tasty! Nice atmosphere, good music, beautiful flowers, nice people!
