Chain alternatives in Middletown

by Charles W. » Mon Mar 01, 2010 1:09 pm

I did a search on Middletown, but couldn't find what I was looking for. We never go to Middletown, but meeting friends for a quick dinner on Thursday, in the Applebee's or Mark's Feed Store range. Thanks.

Cottage Cafe is one of the best places in Middletown. Unfortunately, they do not serve dinner. Here are a few others:

Beef O'Brady - not sure if this is a local or national chain...still good food and nice atmosphere.
Zapata's Corner
Mark's Feed Store (local chain)
Furlong's
Z's Oyster bar (more $$$ than Applebees)
Limestone (ditto)

In Plainview shopping center, there's Joe's OK Bayou, Cancun Mexican, Sechuan Garden, and a Pizza place (forgot the name).

Rumors.

It's a little further out; in front of the East Goverment Center; next to McDonalds.

Zapata's Mexican Food - 12003 Shelbyville Road

Don't know if they are still open, but the "Alley Cat Cafe" is decent too!

Not sure if it is open yet but Havana Rumba is going in the old Mazzoni/Pig City location.
Fuji is also in that area.

There are a couple other places too, but you mentioned wanting to stay in a certain range; still a decent amount to choose.

Zapata's Corner would certainly be my first choice. A little farther out in the plaza across from Lake Forest is Jasmine which has some very good Chinese cuisine and is highly recommended. Rumors which was mentioned earlier also has a pretty good meal.

While we like Cheddar Box, I don't believe it is open for dinner during the week and its menu is basically sandwiches etc. not really dinner type foods.

There's a Wick's in Middletown out in front of the Kroger's and a Hometown Pizza just a little further west - next to the Dairy Queen (bonus). There's also Liu's Garden for chinese, the original Mark's Feed Store, plus the previously mentioned spots.

All are good choices.

Actually, while they were in the same strip center, Mazzoni and Pig City were on opposite ends. Mazzoni's was where Zapata's Corner is now. Havana Rumba is going into the former Pig City location.
