Cobra Whiskey (with real cobras)

by Paul Mick » Thu Feb 25, 2010 11:18 pm

So I was wondering around the internet and I stumbled across this review:

http://www.spiritsreview.com/reviews-whiskey-cobra.htm

As you can expect, I was immediately intrigued. As if my daily dose of EtOH wasn't neurotoxic or hepatotoxic enough...

Regardless, I immediately set about trying to find it online (first by clicking the link to here http://www.thailandunique.com/store/asian-snake-whiskey-c-11.html). Much to my chagrin though, some Thai Airmail liquid ban has prevented them from shipping any of their herpetologic spirits.

Are any of the rest of you as fascinated as I am, and does anyone know of a place that you can find this concoction stateside?

I've seen whiskey and vodka with snakes, not necessarily cobras, in Chinatowns in NY and San Francisco. That is as close as I can come for you.
Now, in China there was a bottle in almost every restaurant. Supposed to be good for your blood.
Yum!

Paul,

If you are going to be a doctor someday, you'd better lay off the whacky tabaccy. I mean SNAKE whiskey when we've got all this good Kentucky Bourbon around...Commmmm-on son, gimme a break. :P

I've heard of snake oils, but never snake whiskey. I always just assumed that it was a figure of speech!

Thanks for the tip though. If I'm every in a Chinatown, I'll look for it.

You know me, I do relish good Bourbon. In fact, I just finished drinking a bit. However, snake whiskey seems like something that I should try before I die. Ideally the latter won't follow immediately though. :D
