Impelliizzeri's plans large presence on Arena block

Postby Robin Garr » Thu Feb 25, 2010 1:05 pm

Thanks to Wes for passing along this exciting information! It looks like Arena spinoffs are starting to make West Main a more happenin' place.

Wes reports that Impellizzeri's has signed a lease for an additional loation at 110 W Main St., across from O'Sheas. "It will be 9000 sq ft. We are currently planning on having space for private dining/catering. We will also have live entertainment. Of course with that amount of room there will be much more seating and a larger bar area. This location will also be open for lunch. We are currently working on products and equipment that will speed up service for lunch. We plan to open Oct 1st. The arena will open in Oct also. We are very excitied about this spot. We are also hoping much more will be taking place in this block of West Main. The more the merrier!"

All I have to add is Woot! Happy to see the arena pulling some local greats downtown. I hope housing follows.

On a similar note, did you see the HGTV house hunter show with the Louisville family? They live in Middletown but wanted a vacation house in downtown Louisville. They looked at the Henry Clay, Bycks, and the new Lofts across from Slugger.
I won't spoil the fun if you haven't caught it yet.

Isn't there a saying about having more money than sense? You know what I could do with just the money they'd be spending on the HOA a month?? Geez. The eye roll was right on, Robin.

OK, so what number are we up to when it comes to places that have or will open around the arena ? I'm really looking forward to seeing how this all shakes out, it could be a real long term plus for downtown. Who knows, the increased competition for dining/nightlife might even force the businesses down on Bardstown Rd. to sweep their freaking sidewalks and wash their windows every now and then...just sayin.

While I personally wouldn't do it, I'm glad to see them investing (again) in our real estate market over another city's. :D

You'd think a taxi would be cheaper in the long run.

And congrats to Impellizzeri's, home of the only offline we've been to so far! Has it really been over a year?

Don't slam those bourgeoisie folk too hard. I think it's actually a shrewd move. The sub-leasing possibilities are endless. Heck, if they could rent out a downtown condo for 15 to 20 grand for Derby week, more power to em. It must be nice to have that kind of money laying around in this economy!

Although I thought the arena location was not as good as the Water Company block, I like that this area is attracting locally-owned restaurants and bars.
