At noon, workers were raising the sign above the door at the old Pig City location. Anyone know when HR2 is supposed to open?

I know I've said this before, but I can't wait! I was at Havana Rumba last night and it was packed to the gills. Great food, as usual!

Marcos Lorenzo, manager of the St. Matthews Havana Rumba, said the new restaurant is expected to open in May.

We would by there this afternoon and they had a "Now Open" sign up! Not sure if they are having a soft opening before Monday or if the sign just got put up early!

Best wishes to HR2 and all the restauranteurs who are opening new facilities in town this year. It's an incredible amount of work and frustration and persistence just to get the doors open on a new place, and in this economic climate, I'd say it's also evidence of incredible courage and faith. Hats off to you guys :P ; may your efforts be an indicator of improving fortunes on the horizon.

And to the entrepreneurs who've managed to keep Louisville's existing independent restaurant scene open and running through the worst economic downturn in decades, you guys must be miracle workers...

Hope you Louisvillians realize how lucky you are to have this many dedicated professionals working (and struggling) hard to keep good food so easily accessible from so many different cuisines for so many different tastes and individual preferences, cause this sure ain't happening in Frankfort. (Where somehow we got and lost two separate Lebanese restaurants within the last two years in an environment where if you don't want "Beside-the-Interstate-Ramp-chain restaurant food" then your choices are pretty much Mexican restaurant A or Mexican restaurant B or Mexican restaurant C or else keep on drivin'....)

Agree with all points you made....but dont forget, you do have the White Light Diner over there. :)
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Wasn't the first Thai Smile over there? Of course, from old days covering the legislature, my Frankfort food memories go to things like the diner-style fare at Saylor's, where none of us city folk would ever risk the lamb fries.

The first Thai Smile IS over there. ;)

I was talking to Suwat there last week and he said they have offered to let the current operators of Thai Smile 5 come and train in their kitchen but the offer was declined. A shame too because if 5 was more like the original I'd be there all the time.

Went to Havena Rumba's tonight. They were open for special invite only (to train the staff). Our server was very nice and the food was good. The patio is really nice. They will be open to the public starting monday for the dinner hour.

Sweet! My neighborhood is anxiously waiting. Plus I think the Fishery opens Monday too.
