OK, for the 4-5 true Taco Tico fans out there, here is the latest. A tentative date of June 27th has been set for the grand opening. I have the date on my calendar circled!!

I heard this is finally open, but the lines and waiting times are unbelievably long. I think I'll wait a couple of weeks!

People are lining up for Taco Tico? Isn't that a sign of the rapture?

I don't find it too surprising, though I don't really understand it myself. I remember when the Chi-fil-a opened in Springhurst... we were just trying to get back to Tinsletown but the whole area was packed with people lined up for the drive-thru and people trying to park in the Chik-fil-a lot. Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE Chik-fil-a, but it's not like it's been unavailable here for 20 years. I couldn't believe people were going that crazy trying to get in just because it was a stand alone joint, instead of a place in the mall. Now that was surprising. You'd get it quicker if you took a short drive to The Mall at St. Mathews....

It's funny how "Everything Old Is New Again"...What's next?...Burger Chef returning to The Ville...I know there are some folks out there who would love to get their hands around a Super Shef again...

I wanted my Taco Tico and I got it, twice! So much better than Taco Bell, and, when you are in the mood for a "quickie", I would take this over "The Border" any time.

Neither time was quick, however. They are still struggling with the overwhelming popularity/newness of the place. From my understanding, they ran out of food and had to close early several nights last week, due to high demand. Customers are still 15-20 deep at the counter at lunch, even a week after the grand opening.

It will be interesting to see how well they do in a month or two........

In my crystal ball, I see a few more locations opening :D

I first went to Taco Bell on Preston Highway in 1976. I had Taco Tico for the first time a little while later that year.
I remember Taco Bell had a mexican burger called the "Bellbeefer". I can't understand why they did away with it. It might have been good if they had made a larger version of it. It might be difficult for them to do it now, with their "Think outside the Bun" slogan.
Taco Tico's Sancho and Beef Enchiladas were my favorite menu items. The Taco Burger and tostada were also good.
Taco Bell's enchirito and chili cheese burrito are good.

I didn't think "The Bell" made it hear until around the mid 80's after buying Zantigo's??

Taco Tico opened in Louisville around 1974, I think.
Taco Bell opened a short time later.
