Tea for Grandma

by Becky LaTreque » Thu Jun 21, 2007 3:09 pm

I am looking to take my grandmother to a real tea for her birthday. What are the real tearooms in town? Do they have websites? Anyone know?
I tried googling this topic but it was a big old mess.

La Tea da at Dolfingers (in Shelbyville Plaza) has a very nice tea room. They serve delicious tea sandwiches and sweets along with the varios teas. I believe it is $20. per person.

La Tea Da

by Gayle DeM » Thu Jun 21, 2007 3:16 pm

There may be others, but I highly recommend La Tea Da at Dolfinger's, 4600 Shelbyville Road. Tea's are Wednesday and Fridays at 11:00 am and Saturdays at 2:00pm. Additional information can be found at http://greattearoomsofamerica.com/tearo ... aroom_list

Jewels House of Tea

by Deb Hall » Thu Jun 21, 2007 10:48 pm

I have never gone to their tea, but I know there is a very nice tea shop in Clarksville (just over the river). I got the impression that they would have a much larger selection of teas/tea accesories than Dolfingers since that is their specialty (Dolfingers is a gift shop), so if your Grandma is really into tea you might want to consider it. I have met the owner and was very impressed with her knowledge, and I know a number of people on the East end that drive over there to buy their tea.

I've been in Jewel Tea and yes they do have a large variety of teas, but I wouldn't call it a tea room. Yes there are tables and chairs, but not the tea service with little cakes and sandwiches. It really just like a coffee house, only with tea.

Here's the link to a tea room that someone posted before. Check out the topic "Gracefully Yours Tearoom" that was posted a few days ago. I've never been, but it sounds like other posters have enjoyed it.

Dolfinger's may be a gift shop, but La Tea Da is a full service tea room.
