I just got this friendly note from Paul Nicheols, GM of the Jason's Deli on North Hurstbourne. He wanted me to know about the Muffuletta special they're having for Fat Tuesday - and the Food Network reporting about it on Monday night. (Corrected, my original post mistakenly said Tuesday.) Outstanding! I've got to get out there and try it. Here's Paul's report:
At Jason's we serve an awesome Muffaletta. So awesome that the Food Network and their show Unwrapped will air a special on our Muffaletta on Monday, Feb, 15, at 9 p.m. in celebration of Mardi Gras.
You cannot find a Muffaletta anywhere like this unless you are in Louisiana. The Muffaletta is premium ham and hard salami or oven roasted turkey with provolone served on a sourdough Muffaletta bun baked in New Orleans topped with a homemade olive mix and grilled in the oven.
"Believe me, it is as good as the Saints." The Muffaletta Special is a 1/4 Muffaletta with a cup of soup for $6.99. I recommend getting it with the Seafood Gumbo. A 9" Whole Muffaletta is $10.99 and can feed 4 linemen, a half is $7.59, a 1/4 is $5.99. All served with chips and a pickle spear. "Louisville should come by and get a taste of New Orleans".
