Question should be - what are YOU fixing for the super bowl tomorrow, Madi?! Oddly enough, my sister lives in Indy now and the whole fam is suited up with jerseys (I heard that something like 60% of Indianapolis residents own Colts jerseys) so for the first time ever I have half a reason to give 2 turds about the game, but I'll surely be staring holes straight through the TV again despite my best efforts. I like superbowl food, though! What are you fixing, Miss Madeline?! I know 1st hand what a master you are in the kitchen!

I was gonna cook wings again, as I always do, but Captain Pepper Jack's wings are so good that I'm just gonna get a bunch from them. Gonna go by Whole Foods and see what they have on tap, hopefully some Hoptimus!

We always go for "team" menus, which my 10 year old son really likes to do. So for the Saints we have Abita Root Beer, homemade muffalettas, Zapp's Spicy Crawtators Chips, and two Bries (aka Drew Brees). For the Colts, its harder to do a food theme, and I'm originally from Indiana, so I know what I speak. We will have White Castle casserole, not actually from IN but I spent enough nights in college in IN driving to WC that it works. Also Kettle Corn from Popcorn, Indiana and if we have to, we will order Papa John's, started in Jeffersonville, IN. We will finish with a cake that has a blue layer and a gold layer. However, my wife, the Saints fan, put the gold layer on top, but I think my son, the Colts fan, will find a way eat it anyway.
Have a Good Day!

I'm serving blue corn chips with extra hot sauce for snacks and for half time: mussels in wine and garlic sauce plus spaghetti squash with fresh vegetable sauce.

I didn't have time for anything so I went to KFC (gasp!) and had those fiery grilled wings (they were not bad at all... very meaty) and a twelve pack of Coors light. Doh!

The vegan pizza was great. Probably about 30 people there, at a nice house on Cherokee in the Highlands. There was veggie pizza too (non-vegan). I'd say we cranked out about 12 pizzas in all (may have been more). One couple brought the dough - they had made it earlier in the day. It was quite a production, with about 6-8 people chopping and assembling in a commercial-esque kitchen. May have been one of the better "foodie" experiences in town last night.

The basement had a big-screen, and a ping pong table. Yay!!! So plenty of doubles ping pong thru the night. Even had growlers of Hoptimus and some other local brews i growlers there. I'd say that out of about thirty people, usually there were 3-5 people watching the game, and then that rose to about ten at the very end. I played a lot of ping pong, and enjoyed watching the Saints crush the evil Colts (revenge for what the did to my Bears three years ago)...

Good food, good company...awesome all-around.....

We had a feast!
Grilled tri-tip and veggie kabobs, pork butt slow roasted in the crock-pot, homemade black bean and corn salsa, Hand-smashed gaucamole (chunky mexican style), spinach and cheese in puff pastry, tangy cole slaw, greek pasta salad, mac and cheese with dijon and cauliflower, wings (couldnt avoid it) from whole foods which were actually great!, caramel pecan bars( which are my new favorite dessert, i should post the recipe they are AWESOME).
I was planning on making pumpkin bars but i could not find canned Pumpkin Pie Filling ANYWHERE! Is this a seasonal item? like you seriously cant find it anytime but the fall?
