Certificate Ideas

by JacquelineW » Wed Jun 20, 2007 9:56 am

Hello all. I want to purchase something nice for a previous manager of mine as a going away present. I'm leaving, not him. I wanted to get him a certificate to a restaurant where him and his wife could enjoy a nice meal and a nice atmosphere. I have had the normal places suggested (Ruth Chris, Jeff Rubys), but that just hasn't struck me as his type of place. He, and his family, are really laid back and easy going people. I think they would enjoy a place with a fun atmosphere, a diverse menu, and great service. I thought about getting a Louisville Originals certificate, but wanted to get some suggestions as well. I know he isn’t a fan of oriental or Mexican food, and if it makes a difference, they live in St Matthews. Any ideas? Thanks!

Jacqueline, when I read your list of requirements, four spots that come right to mind are Equus, 211 Clover Lane, Limestone and L&N Wine Bar. There are plenty more, of course, and your idea of looking through the Louisville Originals Website makes sense, but I don't see you going wrong with any of those, all fairly convenient to St. Matthews.

I have given Limestone certificates on many occasions and they are received enthusiastically!

The Louisville Originals gift card can be used at any Louisville Original member. Unlike the discount certificates. This gives the recipient a wide choice of places. Bound to find some that are desireable. Can be bought online at louisvilleoriginals.com or at Valu Market groceries.

Or you can simple click on the link at the top of this page. Equus would be a great suggestion.

we have a very diverse menu at baxter station and it is comfortable and casual. non smoking, kid friendly. we offer gift cards in any denomination and gladly accept the louisville originals gift card.
a plus to the l.o. card is that if you buy more than 5 of them from the website, you get a 5% discount. hope this helps.

I have been out of town for a few days, but wanted to return and thank you all for your suggestions. I think I may go with the Louisville Originals certificate and give them my own list of suggestions. I would assume this to be the best idea as they can choose their restaurant.
Thank you again for your ideas, I may have to check out Limestone for myself. I can't believe I've never been out there. The menu looked great.
