Believe it or not, I'm dining for the first time at Del Friscos. I'll report back to everyone on Friday my experience and menu selections. It sounds very inviting just looking at the menu.

Enjoy. Prime beef swimming in butter!!!!!
It's an interesting atmosphere and you'd be remiss if you didn't try the "Phunque"

Wish WE had gone to Del Frisco's last night...opted instead for a couple of steaks at Napa River Grill. What a frickin' disappointment THAT meal was. Let us know about your experience at Del Frisco's.

Out of curiosity, what happened at Napa to disappoint you so greatly?

I was thinking the same thing...The wife and I went for our anniversary last week, and I was "underwhelmed".

Disclaimer: This was our 1st visit, so I will certainly give them a 2nd chance.

There ya go Paul...Underwhelmed. I couldn't have said it better. A $70 dollar meal for $130.

Now, back to Del Frisco's.

Ok....not my review...but the person I was dining with...so...you get the picture...

"The Chateaubriand for two was like a giant filet cut in half. It was cooked to PERFECTION. It is, without a doubt, the BEST steak in Louisville! We ordered the Escargot, but they sent us the Shrimpcargot, lol. So we ate that. Then they meant to bring the Escargot, but they brought another Shrimpcargot. Then they actually brought the Escargot, which was delectable. "

"The potatoes au gratin were creamy and done just right. The dirty martini was perfecto (I don't say perfecto) . Kyle had a Baked Potato with Sour Cream. The Green Phunk was the yummiest baconiest spinachiest cheesiest concoction ever.(I don't say yummiest)". Oh, I had a Clean Slate Riesling with my meal. Good stuff.

"The Chef came out to apologize for the mix up, which benefited us, hey free appetizer! I complimented him on the wonderful meal."

"Got my leftovers boxed up to go and when I ... See Moregot home, our server had put in someone else's to go in my bag, in addition to my food! WTF? HAHAHA...sorry person who didn't get their leftovers, I'm giving it to my cat."
----------------------------------------------
And, then I went home to collapse into a food coma not to heard from for a good 6 hours.

I DEFINITELY don't have a cat. ;)

Our server was Steve and he did a most remarkable job.

Total bill was around 86-89 because we have drinks and an appetizer; along with a couple sides. The "Phunque" was included with each Chateaubriand. One could easily drop $30 off that bill . We tipped well because the Server was fantastic and will try to ask for him upon our return.

My husband and I are going this year on Valentine's day. We've never been. I've heard nothing but good things!

I've always thought Del Frisco's had the best steaks in town but they seem to get overlooked, maybe location or the outdated decor which doesn't bother me, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Del Frisco's was great in the '80s but went through a long down spell, got shabby and seemed like they quit caring. It sounds like they may be bouncing back. Time for a long-delayed check-it-out.

While the decor may have diminished over the years the steaks have always been top notch. Decor is an important component of the dining experience, but the food has always trumped it at Del Frisco's. After the rehab a few years ago the decor started to match the food. It has always ranked as the place for steaks. The sides are excellent, the staff very friendly and professional. A return visit is well in order. Let me know if you want company, I'm up for splitting the Chateaubriand anytime. :D

Ditto on the going back. You'll not need to ask me twice.

Funny story:

I thought I had walked into the 70's when opening the doors. Everything was Station Wagon Yellow.

Even though they did re-model about 4 years ago, the interior is still hopelessly mired in the "70's".
Personally, I think that one of the reasons why I like the place. I've always found it to be kinda funky...Even the food presentaions are "old school". It's the sort of place that you could imagine finding the likes of Ron Burgundy the Channel 4 News Team enjoying a fine meal of meat and Scotch.
