There's really only one choice in Louisville, but it's a good one: Lotsa Pasta in St. Matthews, 3717 Lexington Road, (502) 896-6361.

It's really more of an international specialty store than a traditional Italian deli, but the predominant theme (as the name implies) is Italian, and they have a huge pasta selection, large deli meat selection and an excellent cheese department; and lots of other good things. They do make a small range of Italian breads on premises, although for Euro-style breads in particular I'll still have to give the edge to Blue Dog.

Unfortunately, Robin is right. I miss good Italian items that you can't get here, but Lotsa Pasta makes me feel better.

Yep, Lotsa Pasta. If only they sold veal cutlets...
