A BBQ Fiasco

by Pete O » Mon Feb 01, 2010 1:25 pm

Last night, the wife hinted that she wanted BBQ for dinner. Given the appropriate forewarning, I would have smoked some ribs myself. But at the last minute, I was off to buy some 'que. I have been wanting to try Shack in the Back, but I was denied. Apparently they are closed on Sunday. So I decided to drive to Ole Hickory Pit to try them, since it is only a 10 minute drive from my home in Fern Creek. I'll be darned if they weren't closed on Sunday's as well. FABD was too far of a drive (the kids were already hungry at this point)

So, I ended up at the Bootleg on Preston. We usually order from the one on Bardstown Rd. since it is so close to the house. I like their meat pretty well, but I am not a big fan of their sauce. To top it off, the Bootleg on Preston doesn't have the Gumbo that can be found in Fern Creek.

Needless to say, I ate dinner last night, but I still have a barbecue craving. One of the things that I truely miss about living in Lexington is the weekly excursions to Billy's BBQ for Mutton and Fried Pickles.

We've had the same problem too....it always seems I have the craving for BBQ on Sunday. By the way Jimbo's is closed on Sunday too. :( Mark's Feedstore is open on Sunday. :D My favorite is the original location on Shelbyville Road.

Corrected. After spending all weekend in the house with the curtain climbers, the days ran together. :P
