Red Pepper

by Luca B » Mon Feb 01, 2010 11:46 am

I have only been once and ordered off of their regular menu. I love Chinese food and was wanting to go and order several dishes off of the authentic menu to share and have for leftovers.
What should I order??
THanks in advance
BTW, I like it REALLY spicy!

Luca, most of the dishes served at the Red Pepper forum offline are on the authentic menu ... you can look over my report on the event here:

Just about everyone loves the amusingly named "unique chicken smell." I love cumin lamb, a West China dish, but you have to like cumin. Pan Fried tofu is another favorite for both Mary and me, but be aware that it's not hot and spicy. Ma Po To Fu is, and it's a winner.

To be honest, I don't think I've ever ordered a dish from the authentic menu that I didn't like, so you can pretty much just throw a dart at it and win.

When we went, we ordered Twice Cooked Pork, Chinese style. It ended up being sliced pork belly stir fried with vegetables. It was one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth. Yum.

Unique chicken smell

Mouth water chicken

I can't remember which is which, but one is served cold. My wife has a problem with any cold chicken dish, don't know if it bothers you, the menu doesn't tell you its cold.

Went for my Bday dinner last Wednesday and I had the Ginger Lamb and Alan had the Peking Duck....both were EXCELLENT. And plentiful.

Apps: unique chicken smell, beef and maw (both cold)

entrees: twice cooked pork, and some kind of spicy pork bowl(can't remember the name)

All on the authentic chinese menu

Whole Peking duck? Is it on the menu or did you order it special?

No, it was sliced breast, served on a sizzling platter and a delightful brown sauce.....and it's on the Chinese menu

For apps....try the Dan Dan noodles or the Spicy Beef Tendons(while tendons might not sound to appetizing they are very very good.) And another vote for the Cumin Lamb.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

I went with a few friends a while back. We got a few appetizers, and i was very impressed with the Spicy Beef Tendons. For my meal, i got the Spicy Hot Pepper Shredded Pork Stomach. It was just amazing! One of the best authentic Chinese dishes I have ever ate.
