Baxter Station

by Robin F. » Sun Jan 31, 2010 11:55 am

I just have to sing the praises at Baxter Station. We attended "Much Ado" last night at Walden Theatre (troupe is Savage Rose) and then walked down to Baxter Station. It was about 10:20 and they couldn't have been more welcoming (kitchen closes at 11:00).

Our food was fantastic. Of the 4 of us, 3 got house salads and 1 goat cheese salad. I was a house and it was very nice but the garlic/herb dressing was so good I even commented on it mid-bite. The goat cheese salad look fabulous and the large, flat disc of cheese smelled wonderful. They made my hubby happy by having home made 1000 island.

For dinner, 2 got the blackened tilapia on cheddar grits, 1 filet and 1 Cajun pasta. We all raved about our food. I loved the tilipia so much I was tempted to stuff myself to finish but wanted to take some home. Our filet friend raved about his mashed potatoes and Hub complimented the andouille in the pasta. We were all duly stuff and armed with leftovers so we passed on dessert.

The service was great, warm, friendly and gave me an honest answer when I asked him what his favorites things were (pork chops, blackened tilapia). I'm sorry I can't remember his name. We had a great time.

Baxter is our go-to place. We've never been disappointed there. And I think that their service is one thing that sets them apart. One suggestion - next time, save room for dessert. Amy's desserts are to die for. Best bread pudding in the galaxy :D
