Ton Brothers to open Hog and Barrel Saloon

by Steve P » Fri Jan 29, 2010 5:48 pm

Cut and pasted from Louisville Mojo (and probably seen elsewhere, just not by me):

Steven and Michael Ton, owners of Basa Modern Vietnamese and 732 Social will open the Hog and Barrel Whiskey Saloon this fall at 127 West Main St., a.k.a. Whiskey Row Lofts.

Much the same way they added contemporary touches to the cuisines served at their other two concepts, Steven Ton said the barbecue spot will present a modern twist on the classic smokehouse-centered eatery.

Ton said he'd hoped news of the opening would have remained secret for a little while longer, but a press release issued by the Mayor's Office trumpeted the news, adding that the Tons will receive a $100,000 low-interest loan and a $20,000 forgivable loan from the city.

According to the release, the "restaurant will feature food, wine, spirits, with a strong emphasis on bourbon and local micro-brewed beers."

Ton expects the restaurant to open around the same time the new downtown arena is christened.

Be curious to see what a "modern twist on the classic smokehouse-centered eatery" entails.

I can look out the office window and see the building, just a couple hundred feet away. I am looking forward to it.

We've not yet partaken of the brothers other establishments but have seen them featured on "Secrets of Louisville Chefs"...I can't imagine this being anything other than successful and can't wait to try the place.
